LPPC Submits Comments to FERC on Transmission Planning
LPPC today submitted comments to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on its Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NOPR) on Transmission Planning. The following statement can be attributed to LPPC President John Di Stasio:
“It is essential that FERC strikes the right balance as they approach large-scale regional transmission planning to ensure that public power consumers continue to pay fair and reasonable rates. LPPC members, whose first priority will always be the communities they serve, support the NOPR conditioned on FERC’s assurance that cost and risk management practices will be a critical element of proposed protocols and that state and municipal utilities will have a meaningful role in the processes for selecting regional facilities and determining cost allocation. LPPC members wholeheartedly agree that building out America’s transmission system is vital to supporting a reliable and resilient electric grid, particularly as the industry shifts to integrating cleaner energy sources, but the interests of public power consumers must always be prioritized.”
